Community Fair Offers Health, Wellness and Career Opportunities

On Saturday, Aug. 21, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., my office will hold a community fair at Tarentum Riverview Memorial Park, located at 400 E 1st Ave., Tarentum.

Activities and resources included:
  •   Health and wellness information screenings.
  •   Information on state and county level services and programs.
  •   Fun activities for families and individuals.
  •   Apprenticeship and career opportunities.

Upcoming Firearm Seminar

My office will hold a firearm seminar at Acme Club, located at 230 Herron Ave., Cheswick, on Tuesday, July 27, from 6-9 p.m.

Attendees can expect to learn about gun laws and their gun rights, Pennsylvania’s castle doctrine, hunting, where people can and cannot carry, and what to do when coming in contact with a member of law enforcement while carrying a concealed weapon.

Senior Health Fair to Be Held in September

On Friday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, my office will hold a Senior Health Fair and Flu Shot Clinic at AK Valley Park located at 600 Freeport Road, New Kensington.

UPMC will be on-site to distribute flu shots. Those interested must make an appointment to receive the shot and can do so by calling my office at 724-826-5013.

Weekly Veteran Outreach Hours

In a partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, I am pleased to announce that I will be offering veterans affairs outreach hours in my district office at 950 Pittsburgh St., Suite 200, in Springdale, on every Wednesday in 2021 from noon to 2 p.m.

The service officer will coordinate requests for assistance by veterans in:
  •   VA claims for disability compensation.
  •   Disability increase and rating decision appeals.
  •   Veteran or surviving spouse pension.
  •    Burial and death benefits.
  •   Addition of dependents.
  •   Dependency and indemnity compensation.
  •   Other veterans’ benefits.

Veterans do not need to be a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars to receive these services. Please call the district office at 724-826-5013 to schedule an appointment with the field service officer.
