ALLEGHENY AND WESTMORELAND COUNTIES
– Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso (R-Allegheny/Westmoreland) is holding a free senior health fair and flu shot clinic that will host businesses from the senior health and wellness career fields for the 33rd Legislative District.
The fair will take place on Friday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, at AK Valley Park (formerly Alcoa), located at 600 Freeport Road, New Kensington. UPMC will be on-site to distribute flu shots. Those interested must make an appointment to receive the shot and can do so by calling Lewis DelRosso’s office at 724-826-5013.
“Since my first day in office, I have advocated for the well-being of our senior citizens,” said Lewis DelRosso. “This event will provide senior citizens and those caring for senior citizens great tools and information to help them navigate the resources available to them.”
Keeping true to her commitment to help and protect senior citizens, Lewis DelRosso authored two bills this session that have both been passed by the House. House Bill 975
would extend the protections of the institutional sexual assault statute to cover elders and other care-dependent persons who are assaulted by those who have the responsibility of providing care. House Bill 1082
would shed more light on Alzheimer’s disease and all dementias throughout Pennsylvania and create a structure to unite patients and health care providers around cognitive concerns that will lead to an earlier diagnosis of the disease. Both bills are awaiting consideration by their respective Senate committees.
“I can’t thank the businesses joining us for this event enough,” Lewis DelRosso continued. “Assisting our seniors, who have given so much to our community for years, is a great way to recognize their efforts as a District 33 resident.”
