WESTMORELAND COUNTY – The Zion Community Network (ZCN) will receive a $3 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant for its Alcoa Legacy Project, Rep. Carrie Lewis DelRosso (R-Allegheny/Westmoreland) announced.
“I am so excited for the Zion Community Network to begin the first phase of this long-awaited project,” said Lewis DelRosso. “The Alcoa Legacy Project partners ZCN with Habitat for Humanity, Housing & Urban Development, Veterans Association and other potential organizations to develop a sustainable veteran community that will also provide access to workforce development capacity for the vets, utilizing their leadership skills with a focus on economic development. This is a wonderful opportunity for growth in PA District 33.”
The project will focus on site infrastructure work and renovation of the current buildings to bring them up to code and become fully usable. Improvements include repairing or replacing the elevator, roofing, thermal insulation and walls. Water service, HVAC systems and interior electric will be installed, and bathroom and kitchen areas will be updated. These renovated buildings will house veteran services such as certified housing and urban development counseling, addiction recovery counseling, certified counseling and family support, economic development and job readiness programs, and community integration.
